Job Title: Custodial Director
Qualifications: Have a working knowledge of all areas of school plant cleaning and be able to operate and demonstrate the use of supplies and equipment.
Reports To: Superintendent
Job Goal: To maintain the school building in a condition of operating excellence so that full educational use of it may be made at all times.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Examines school buildings on a regular basis for needed custodial care.
- Establishes and recommends priorities on repair projects.
- Provides for the on-going daily supervision of custodial activities.
- Supervises, trains, and evaluates all custodian personnel, conducts interviews, and makes recommendations on their employment to the superintendent.
- Develops a system for dealing with emergency custodial problems.
- Receives cleaning and setup requests, communicating when action is necessary, and what action is necessary.
- Ensures custodial work schedules and responsibilities are followed.
- Consults with the superintendent regarding the establishment of regularly preventative maintenance programs.
- Maintains such personnel and other records as are required.
- Orders materials as needed, and makes recommendations of custodial supplies and equipment for purchase.
- Ensures all Board of Education policies, rules, and regulations are followed.
- Communicates with and receives prior approval from the superintendent for any significant changes to the facility caused by staff requests.
- Prepares and maintains Safety Inspection Checklists in accordance with previously established procedures.
- Clean classrooms, take out trash, clean restrooms, buff hallways, scrub floors, deal with nightly activities, vacuum rugs, mop and sweep steps.
- Other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the superintendent.
Terms of Employment:
Salary, work schedule, and length of contract will be determined by job title and experience. Board Policy relating to “Support Staff” will define hours of employment.
Evaluation:
Job performance will be reviewed annually by the superintendent in accordance with Board Policy relating to “Support Staff.”
This is a full time 12 month position with benefits, including: board paid employee health and life insurance. Access to dental, vision and additional life insurance. Position qualifies for the Public Education Employment Retirement System. Start date will be March 1, 2025.
